West Coast Kustoms

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

West Coast Kustoms Car Club held it’s 27th annual Cruisin’ Nationals this past weekend at The Santa Maria, CA fairgrounds. The talk of the show was comparing this show to the previous ones held in Paso Robles, CA. The show in Paso was not confined to a fairgrounds, but was held in the downtown park, and center square. Many people said it had a better vibe in Paso, but I disagree. This years’ show had 1000 of the coolest kustoms I have ever seen. In Paso, the capacity was under 800. I say the more cars the better. Since a picture is worth 1000 words, if you scroll down, you will see the equivalent of 5000 words, or 5 pictures. My favorite kustom of the weekend could be the white Pontiac El Camino, or the Barris T-Bird.

Paso

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

The West Coast Kustoms has been hosting the Cruisin’ Nationals each Memorial Day weekend for the past 27 years. The event draws a variety of hot rods and customs, from patina’d retro rods to wildly flamed and scalloped customs on air bags, and everything in between. If you are a tradional rod and custom fanatic like I am, this is the place to be.

One thing has changed for this year. The show that was simply known as “Paso” due to it’s location in Paso Robles, CA, has moved south to Santa Maria, CA. If you show up in Paso Robles this weekend looking to check out some cars, you will be disappointed. It is now at the Santa Maria Fairpark on Saturday and Sunday.

New Issue Teaser

Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Issue #40 has recently been complete, and is scheduled to mail the first of June. You may have seen some advanced copies floating around, and if you have, you know that you must purchase a copy. We have the full story of the newly restored Ala Kart, which is one of my favorite articles in any of the TRJ issues. If you don’t like the Ala Kart, we also included lots of customs, Part 2 of the Ayala story, a Deuce Roadster, the completed Barnstormer and more. Let me know if you want more info, or would like to order some copies.
